A WINNING, NOT A WHINING PLATFORM
By Jack DeBar Smith
1. Pass a FLAT TAX on all employed citizens and those living or working in
the United States and it's possessions. The tax would be a total of 10%
Federal, 5% State, 1% Municipal (county and city). Total 16% No more, no less.
This shall be a non-expanding, iron clad guarantee to all citizens. 16% total
taxes means that citizens keep 84 cents out of each dollar earned, owned, or
controlled, for food, clothing, rent, mortgage payments, education,
transportation needs, insurance, medical, investments, savings, vacations, hobbies, etc.,
as each citizen, sees fit to meet his/her needs.
Citizens decide what "services" they want in the Free Market -- not a
politically correct bureaucratic interpretation deciding what is best. Citizen
responsibility will then take precedence over burgeoning bureaucracy bent on removing more
of our freedoms. There will be no mandates, nor annual upgrades for
entitlements to unnecessary multiple layers of unproductive government
agencies. All government bureaus will compete for the limited,
non-increasing, tax revenues. Unproductive bureaucracy will wither and disappear .
Those services, if actually needed, would be filled by the Free Market
Economy.
The Armed Services will of necessity continue being funded for national defense..
The military shall be audited periodically along with any remaining "alphabet
soup" bureaus. There shall be no provision or interpretation of the United Nations
Charter to have taxing powers against United States citizens or control over any of our
national or state lands. The United Nations shall have no control or command over
United States Armed forces. The UN must be a servant, not a master. It shall have no
USA judicial or court.control.
2. Welfare. Except for the blind, lame, or destitute, it must stop now. It
has, unfortunately created several generations totally dependent on taxes from the pockets
of workers. Welfare destroys the home environment. No fathers are needed when
expensive bureaucracy furnishes the basics for babies having babies. With no real
family values, crime increases. Child education falls apart, as far too many drop
out of school foregoing practical principles to survive and earn an honest living.
Eliminate welfare with the above exceptions and crime will be reduced. Such classic
socialist welfare engineering is a man made substitute for God, which has proved in the
last few decades to degenerate into the lower forms of animality.
3. Foreign Aid. Stop it now. Keep our money in our pockets: not slipped
into any Marxist, socialist dictator's, or international welfare agency purse. We
have won no love or appreciation for our nation with it. Foreign Aid recipients to this
day have never understood what American, individual freedom and ideals represent.
These trillions of dollars must be put to quality use on our own shores, and in the hands
of our own citizens.
4. Illegal immigration. Stop it now. Close our borders to all
illegals. America is the only nation in the world not controlling its own
borders! All Presidents have taken an oath to protect our borders from
invasion. We are invaded on a daily basis. Not one president has
complied! We must put our own troops on our own borders, instead of all
over the world minding other nations' business and their centuries old
problems. For at least 5 years we must reduce legal immigration to 100,000 per
year. This will allow time for the new arrivals and present citizens to
assimilate, utilize and accommodate any talents and whatever knowledge they possess
sharing together the freedom of. Individual Free Enterprise. The Free Market is what
made America so desirable to the entire world.
5. Term Limits they eliminate entrenched "politically correct,"
professional, career politicos unable to cope with life outside of taxpayer supported
pursuits. Term Limits remove the minions on their unproductive staffs and
hangers-on. Such professionals are not the vision of the founding fathers.
They knew that power corrupts when left unchecked for too long a time. Thomas
Jefferson wrote clearly that when representatives lose the confidence of their
constituents it is time to exercise limitations upon them. Today we call it
Term Limits, and they are needed now, permanently limiting and curbing arrogance by
elected "public servants."
6. Stop the attack on our Constitution. Eliminate life time appointments
for federal and state judges elevated to power without fear of redress from better
qualified legal minds. The Judiciary is our weakest point in keeping at bay
ridiculous decisions undermining the spirit of justice and the valid principles of our
Constitution. Liberal appointed judges are allowing freakish manipulation of law in
our courts. Cunning, crafty lawyers select these judges who are only too willing to create
destructive criteria to change law. The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) is
particularly clever in this respect. It seeks and finds sympathetic judges for their
causes to emasculate the true meaning and spirit of the United States Constitution.
Such organizations know their friends and fight to get them appointed to the bench.
These appointed, unqualified Federal and State judges are not above the law and
shall not be allowed or tolerated to use their position making laws to
suit their own political purposes. .
7. Abortion. Forget the rhetoric about abortion, pro, or con. This
is strictly a personal matter and both Christians and non-Christians, particularly the
individual woman involved should make her decision with family guidance. The real
problem is getting the government involved. Keep government out entirely. That
responsibility lies strictly with the parents, not the taxpayer. No federal or state
funds shall be used for abortions.
8. English as Official language. All government documents, voting
information and basic schooling shall be taught only in the English language when tax
revenues are used. Any and all other languages are available and can be taught
in schools or colleges and universities. All individuals have a right to speak any and as
many languages as they desire, or are capable of learning. However, bi-lingual
classes for newly arrived immigrants, legal (or illegal) are a complete disservice to all
students and wastes taxes by creating unneeded, destructive, bureaucratic,
multi-culturalism. Such nonsense only drives a wedge between English speaking and
limited, or non-English speakers. It slows down students, and keeps them from
unlimited opportunities and benefits that English opens to them. Bi-lingual bureaucrats
and politicians are the only beneficiaries. Such misused tax money must be
rededicated exclusively to teach English, reading, writing, useful math, history,
geography, and the basics of Free Market economics. These are subjects students will
be using all their lives.
9. Death Penalty. The punishment must always fit the crime.
Justice cannot be served otherwise. There is no excuse for taxpayers to
feed, clothe, maintain medical welfare and criminal's "rights" for prisoners
guilty of the heinous crimes they commit against society and their fellowman. When
they are not here they cannot commit more crimes or tie up courts with frivolous lawsuits
paid by taxes. There will be no more unlimited appeals handled by tax supported
lawyers.
10. Affirmative action. Quality of knowledge shall replace it. Race.
gender, religion, or color shall have no place. California's Proposition 209 is a
good and simple approach to overcome this destructive government bureaucratic created law.
11. Frivolous law suits. Basic English law will eliminate many such
suits. "You sue, you lose, you pay." This will thin out
the overwhelming number of hungry, ambulance chasing lawyers that give the legal
profession a very bad name.
12. Inflation. It shall be held under permanent control by the
elimination of the Federal Reserve Bank, and its Board. The FRB is a private banking
institution controlling the Treasury printing presses flooding America with zero backed
Federal Reserve Notes. These paper notes have nothing backing them except the
political promise that they are "good." A gold standard will
replace it. Money cannot then be contrived out of thin air using a gold
standard.. Such a positive substitution for what America now has would erase the
need for more and more paper money which depreciates in purchasing power by each and every
injection of more Federal Reserve paper notes into our economy.. A Gold standard will
allow citizens to save with the knowledge that what they put into savings will be there
when needed for retirement: for college, business or family needs, without inflation
worries. Gold puts a solid, metal lid on spending by Congress and state
legislators. Politicians would be forced to stay with the set purchasing power of
money pegged to gold. They would not be able to force unwarranted taxation and
inflation upon us. It would eliminate politically motivated inflation designed to
meet unrealistic political campaign promises. A balanced budget would not only be a
dream, but a positive reality - at last.
